Dear Friends,

In 2004, Laura Louie created a formal tax deductible foundation structure named the Laura Louie Hope Foundation.  It was assumed that this Foundation would be a boon to fundraising for the causes that Laura so passionately cares about.  Unfortunately, this formal structure has not produced the advantages expected for the small sized program that Laura runs therefore the Foundation was shut down at the end of 2008; however, the work, the cause and fund-raising continues under the name Laura Louie Hope Projects.

We sincerely thank you for supporting Laura Louie over these past years in her work with persons living with HIV/AIDS and poverty issues in developing countries.  Laura has successfully established herself in northern Thailand and is now focused on continuing her good work in northern India.

We still need your friendship and financial support.  To date, your support has assisted in the development of a self sustaining out patient acupuncture clinic in northern Thailand that is treating people living with HIV and AIDS.  This clinic has met with great success and continues to operate almost entirely on its own.

Your support also allowed for important contacts to be made with HIV/AIDS organizations operating in Africa and India.  These contacts helped focus our plan for the future work of the Laura Louie Hope Projects, namely to provide assistance on the following issues in northern India:  medical care for underprivileged people, child educational scholarships, HIV/AIDS related support, sustainable life enhancement technologies (e.g., the energy efficient stove project) and general poverty related matters.

This is a notice of a change in our name but not a change in our focus or future work.  Our effort to assist those living with HIV/AIDS and poverty continues and your support is still needed.

Please consider making a donation to support the work of the Laura Louie Hope Projects.  If a tax deductible receipt is required, please donate to the Mae On Project in northern Thailand and/or the Kurseong Project in northern India through the Tides Canada Foundation (note:  a small administration fee will be deducted from your donation by Tides Canada).

If no tax receipt is required, please consider making a direct donation in Laura Louie’s name and 100% of your funds will be used toward the work of the Laura Louie Hope Projects in northern India.

Thank you for your continued support and friendship!
